Course Overview
The CCIE Security Lab 5-Day Instructor Led Boot Camp is designed to prepare CCIE candidates for the one-day Security "hands-on" lab exam. Over five days candidates will solidify their existing knowledge, expose their weaknesses and gain vital test taking strategies. This class is designed for candidates who are within 6 months of their lab date. The class does not cover introductory material, and candidates are expected to have the minimum of a CCSP level knowledge of the topics covered in order to receive the full benefit of the class. Each candidate will work through challenging scenarios on their own vRack of equipment. Each student will be given dedicated access to their individual vRack throughout the course.
This class, offered by GlobalNet Training in partnership with IPexpert, consists of several hours of lecture per day and up to 10 hours or more of hands-on preparation per day. Be prepared to stay late every evening. During the class, the instructor will identify some of the most common mistakes that candidates make, and will provide each individual an assessment of their readiness at the end of the week.
Course Facts
- Taught by one of two CCIE Security-certified Instructors who have passed the 2.0 Blueprint, hold multiple CCIE's and additional industry leading certifications and have several years of experience utilizing and teaching Cisco security courses.
- A small class size, so each student is ensured individual instructor time and access to their own POD of security gear.
- Course length is five days, 10 to 14 hours per day (depending on student).
- Each student will be given access to their individual vRack throughout the course.
- Students MUST BRING THEIR OWN LAPTOPS.
- Course is held in a training facility close to hotels, airports and restaurants.
- Snacks and refreshments are provided free of charge.
- Each student will receive some of the industry's most complex, in-depth and up-to-date lab scenarios (Course content specifically designed for this course)
- The instructor will provide in-depth lectures on various security-focused technologies. Other topics will be addressed as needed. The instructor will identify some of the most common mistakes that candidates make and will provide each individual an assessment of their readiness.

Monday through Wednesday is spent with a mixture of lecture and working through mock labs, exploring different scenarios. This is done with a modular approach including the following:
- Monday: Strategy, Routing Protocols Overview, NAT, ACL's, AAA, MQC,
- Tuesday: IPSec/GRE tunnels, CBAC, Identity Management, PIX/ASA, MPF, Contexts, Transparent FW
- Wednesday: ACS Server, IPS Sensor, VPN 3000, Network Attacks
- Thursday: Students work on a mock lab exam.
- Friday: Students work on a mock lab exam.
The course is paced, allowing you to learn details of topics, focus on your specific areas of weaknesses, strengthen more familiar topics, and improve your speed.

- Basic understanding of ACS Server, IPS
- All of the IOS Router basic features
- Solid troubleshooting skills
Course Prerequisites
- At least 2 years hands-on experience with Cisco Security and SAFE Blueprint architecture.
- Students should have passed the CCIE Security Written exam and may already hold some of the security certifications such as CCSP, etc.
- Student should complete at least 50% of our Preparation Workbook prior to the course.
- Students should have strong troubleshooting skills.
